Ice Carving Club Achievements
- Henry Ford's Ice Carving Club is the largest community-based Ice Club Clubs in the United States.
- Members are a very diverse group from the college.
- Members range from 18 to 60 years old.
- The club purchased a 16' X 16' walk-in freezer.
- The club generates over $10,000 in sales from off-campus events per season.
- Established Ice Carving Club Scholarship funds for students.
- Voted "Club of the Year" at HFCC for 10 years running.
- Ice Carving Club Members won 2nd place in single and team competition at the Plymouth Ice Spectacular, and 5th place at the Collegiate National Competition in Frankenmuth.
- They demonstrated their ice carving talents in many cities including: Plymouth, Detroit, Dearborn, Trenton, Novi, Belleville and Wyandotte.
- Club presented a two-day show for the City of Wyandotte, which widely advertised HFCC.
- Club provides ice carvings for HFCC events, local businesses, and community fundraisers.
- Club members helped with Super Bowl XL activities in 2005
- Club has produced its own DVD featuring student works.
- Club members presented at the American Culinary Federation Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
- Club members presented at the National Ice Carving Association Trade Show in Lexington, Kentucky on "How to Set Up New Clubs" for schools across the country. Many ice clubs have been established as a result.
- Club members are active in many outreach programs throughout Southeast Michigan including: Relay for Live and Covenant House.
- All club products are environmentally friendly.
- The number of ice carving requests always exceeds our production capacity.
- Popularity of the club has led to a curriculum of ice carving classes being developed at Henry Ford Community College.
- Henry Ford Community College is in the process of obtaining National Ice Carving Association (NICA) accreditation.
